Siân Holt graduated from a Business Studies degree in 1983 and started life as a marketing consultant with a small London agency before establishing a leisure orientated agency with colleagues in the early 1990’s.

Her first contact with the Fudge Business was when she conducted the research for Jim Garrahy who wanted to establish his fudge company in the UK from the US. Some years later she realised that the business had never fulfilled its potential but that it required significant investment and a total re-think in order to work.

In 1995 she took the plunge, bought the business out right and spent 5 years re-inventing the offer through the last recession, creating a unique motivation and incentive scheme for staff, opening and closing new outlets and turning the business around to be the profit making organisation it has now become. The company now employs around 45 people FTE, and makes ‘the best fudge in the world’ across 8 outlets nationwide which it sells via their own shops, at shows/events around the country, and also via the wedding, corporate and mail order markets they have developed in recent years.

The current challenge is to spread the word of fudge and grow the business via wholesaling to other food and speciality retailers now that the 2 year research project to extend the product shelf-life is near completion. New products are also on the verge of launching with a Make at Home Kit and a range of fudge sauces.

As a small business owner and entrepreneur, Siân has been involved with a variety of networking and business panels and is also a non executive director of Business Support Kent CIC (Business Link Kent).

She runs her business, alongside Head Office colleagues, from a converted stable block in the garden of her house and also looks after a husband, two children and one dog!
